Match for 5th Vice-Captain's Match Predictions
Given that there's going to be a 2 month break, I figure it's a good time to make another prediction/analysis on where the match is going to go.
So, obviously, I believe in and want Mairu to completely dominate the match; I believe that on her own, Mairu could 100% take first place all by herself, even in just 1 hanchan. Given her start, I don't think we're too far off from having that happen either. I'm just concerned if this match ends up like the Vanguard's match: we get to Mairu's first dealer turn, and she wins a couple of good hands, then the others step up and in the second half she doesn't do anything, except maybe complete one more cheap reservation.
I think this is a likely way the match will turn because it means that in the Capt…
5th Place Match (Sergeants and Lieutenants)
So, looking back at my predictions from last year, I realise they were made under the impression that the 5th Match would be played over ten hanchan, rather than the five hanchan it's actually played on. I am happy with this for one reason, being that it only takes about a month real time for the matches to be over. As much as I wish that they were two hanchan (and so my predictions look a little better), I'm quite happy with how it's turning out right now. If we just lowered the point loss/gains from them, I'd say my predictions are quite accurate, with the current exception being Hanada beating out Suzu. Although, I expect both Captain's and Vice-Captain's matches to be a little longer, like the Vanguard matches, so we might be finished …
5th Place Match (Vanguards)
Aite, so the vanguard match just finished in the match for 5th, and until chapter 165, I wasn't too off in my prediction.
Senriyama 120,800
Shindouji 100,800
Himematsu 94,600
Uzusan 83,800
I am pleasantly surprised to announce that Hanada ended positive; I thought she might end negative as she was the butt-monkey (in terms of points) in the side-A semifinals. She had a really good showing here. I think she really proved to her peers, but more importantly to herself, that she deserves her spot as Shindouji's vanguard. Yes, her ability is not flashy, but her skill in collaborating with other players and accommodating opponents' powers is really where she shines, and the Vanguard match, perhaps barring the Captain match, is the most concentrated p…
5th-8th Place Match
Hey, so with the last chapter being released a few days ago, and the 5th-8th place match happening very soon, I thought I'd dump my thoughts on the matter somewhere :P
Also I'm totally biased against Himematsu, they haven't presented as that strong of a school, compared to Senriyama or Shindouji in my opinion. While Hiroe is definitely a good player, due to the nature of mahjong, her defensive style is not the best in a tournament where the points carry over. I just think they're a completely uninteresting school. Sera says it best: at the end of the day, it's about who's won the most points. So bear with me :D
Anyways, in the 5th-8th place match it'll be Shindouji, Senriyama, Uzusan, and Himematsu. Two of these schools utilise a weak-to-stro…
National Finals
So, with the last two hanchan of the semifinals coming up, I thought it'd be time to share my thoughts and predictions for the Finals.
Although the placement of the schools has stayed the same throughout the Side-B semifinals, there's no doubt in my mind that Saki will come up with a second place (MAYBE EVEN FIRST???) finish. And, it's highly unlikely for Himematsu and Uzusan to make it to the finals, so that means that the finalists will be Shiraitodai, Achiga, Kiyosumi, and Rinkai: Two newcomers and two veterans. Wow just like all of Kiyosumi's (important) match-ups thus far.
Wait I also just wanna say that I think that the same thing that happened in the quarterfinals will happen again to Suehara in the semifinals. Sawaya has been noted (…
The End?
I doubt that episode 13 is the end. Most anime is 13 episodes but I don't think they will stop there. Zenkoku-Hen is their experience at "the zenkoku-yusho" which is the national tournament. They haven't even reached the climax (between Saki and Teru-Chan) If you watched to the very end of 13, you should have saw Teru saying Saki's name... The disaster had something to do with fire, and a wheelchair burning. The ending was practically the preview of the episodes to come.. I REALLY doubt it, just thought of something. Remember the last episode of Achiga-Hen, they gave us a preview of Yuuki-Chi fighting Teru-Chan... Basically, Teru-Chan's school fighting Kiyosumi. I don't think they did that preview for nothing. If it is REALLY that, I thi…
Hello
Hello. My name is Misaki Yamamoto. And no, I am not a bot or the character from First Love Limited. I am just named after her. Despite being a big/huge fan of anime, video games, Vocaloid, voice actors for anime, music, and the Kagerou Project, but the most important thing/person I like the most is Sumire Hirose. She seems pretty. And her voice... I-I have nothing to say. Because I like her too much, I mostly copy her personality. Well, that's all I have to say. Call me by 'Sumire Tateyama' or 'Miss Sumire'. Feel free to call me whatever you like. Please take care for me...

Nagano Player Ranking
Hi :3
I'm really bored, so I've decided to rank the finalists of Nagano's team tournament against each other. ...That statement was really confusing xD What I mean is that I'm going to rank Nagano's players from the team matches out of 20 (each player gaining one spot), this is based on how they played, their overall score in the tournament, potential abilities, and how they deal with others' abilities and play-styles; however, I will also take into account their anime-only analyses, such as with Sawamura. I know that on most characters' pages, there is an overall 5/5 ranking, but I feel that's ambiguous, and I'm bored :3
These are my rankings and not based on who I like, but what I feel is a player's strength; but, feel free to argue certai…

San Ankou and Toi Toi
This is to demonstrate a close occurrence where San Ankou and Toi Toi may occur together, and when they do not.
San Ankou + Toi Toi
Tsumo: Open:
The Tsumo on the 2-wan allows the 2-wan to count as the 3rd Ankou (closed triplet).
Toi Toi
Ron: Open:
The Ron on the 2-wan shows the 2-wan to count as a "pon" (open triplet). Thus, San Ankou does not count here.
のどっち - Nodocchi has Arrived
I recently ordered the Nodocchi figure by Alter on eBay after recently getting (and quitting) my first job. It costed about $120 CND, but it was well worth the money. Alter is a really nice sculpting company. Definitely loving the figures they produce.
One of the main leading factors for my decision to buy the Nodoka Haramura figure of her online mode outfit Nodocchi was due to the fact that I looked up to her and other Saki characters that played with a "digital style" of Mahjong. I felt that playing in the most logical way would be the best. However, I have recently switched to an agressive style of Mahjong. I feel that I experience more thrills while playing Mahjong this way. I am thankful for the experience of learning how to play a "d…
Functionality: Mahjong tiles
One of the objectives of a wiki to document. For a site that talks so much about mahjong, it can be cumbersome if editors have to talk about certain hands but have no way of showing the reader what the hand looks like.
Fortunately, the awesome editors of the Japanese Wikipedia have already considered that and made this template. After some tweaking and conversion into English, the template begins to take shape.
While it's not yet ready for full deployment, the basic functionality is already there. At this point, it cannot display hands that involve open chi, pon, or kan because I need to create images whose tile orientation are rotated. That will take some time. As you can see from the original template on the Japanese Wikipedia, there are a n…
