She and Ayuko Yamamoto finally show up and the girls begin to play a few rounds of mahjong. Mirin is paired with Kanna Ishitobi, Kyouka Inamura, and Rio. She along with every senior is soundly beaten and Mirin tells everyone that she can retire happy now.
Suddenly the advisor Chisa Sakane appears and greets them. Shino asks her to play but Chisa says it's a waste of time and to not expect anything from her because she doesn't want to be their advisor. She then shoos them out of the club room. While Shizuku is trying to get the girls to join, Rio is thinking about the popcorn she missed out on today. Mirin says she'll pass because being thinner makes you popular. Rio then excitedly runs off to the kitchen with Mirin behind her.
City Tournament Arc[]
After Rio Takuwa shows off her technique of eating popcorn with chopsticks and playing mahjong, Mirin says that this is brain training because an old club member told her so. When Rio mentions that Chisa allows them to eat anything in the club, Mirin mentions that because of that she has gained nine kilos since joining. When it gets near the city tournament, Shizuku Nozu asks what she should do for the line up and Mirin immediately tells her that she's fine with being a reserve player and doesn't really want to participate. Shizuku decides to let their play determine the line up and Mirin ends up a reserve. She is later seen helping explain the rules to the first years.
At the tournament, she is shocked to see Kanna go bust.
