Momoko Touyoko

Introduction

Team Position: Vice Captain

Momoko is a first year student at Tsuruga Academy. Known as "Stealth Momo", she has a lacking presence, and is often ignored by her friends despite her efforts to gain attention. She is the last member to join the club and is very close to Yumi.

Appearance

Momoko is a young first year student who, like Mihoko and Nodoka, has a busty physique. She sports dark and glossy shoulder-length hair with two strands trailing down her temples and intersecting her eyes. She is normally seen garbed in standard tsuruga Academy student uniform. Due to her lack of presence, she is frequently depicted as either completely invisible, semi-transparent, or parts of herself dissipating into a smoke-like array

Personality

Not much is shown about Momo outside of her affection for Yumi and she becomes quite jealous if she shows interest in other people. She has an accent which often adds the ending "su" and "s" any to her sentences. Momoko usually refers to others in self-invented names rather than their actual designations.

Playing Style / Abilities

While a fairly decent player, her mahjong playing ability primarily comes when she augments her negative presence into an advantageous stealth state, causing her opponents to miss her moves, though this is negated by players who ignore presence such as Nodoka. Momoko's play style usually involves her targeting the player with the most points while her stealth mode is active, and amasses her score points by stealing those from the recipient's.

Plot

Prefectural Tournament Arc

We are shown brief glimpses of Momo throughout the final round but was never shown her face and it was not until the final hand of match before she did anything (winning off of Touka Ryuumonbuchi). At the intermission of her match she shows up when Yumi calls and says that even though it took her a while she is now completly in "steath" mode. Afterward we get a backstory of how Yumi became interested in Momo through online mahjong and stormed into the first year room and yelled that she wanted Momo which succeeded. During the rest of the match Momo is then shown winning off of Touka repeatedly and won until Nodoka won off of her, leaving Momo in disbelief. After the match Momo catches Yumi before her match and expresses her disappointment but is comforted by Yumi.

While Yumi's match was in play we see Momo make brief comments and believing in Yumi until the very end. In the halls Momo greets Yumi after her loss and they have a conversation expressing Yumi's disappointment but Momo cheers her up.

Individual Tournament Arc *Anime Only Arc*

Before the tournament we see Momo on the roof of Tsuruga with Yumi holding hands and discussing their bleak chances in the individuals. On the first day of the tournament Momo is with everyone else at halftime listening to Mutsuki tell of her defeat and at the end of the day Momo is shown to have been good enough to get into the top 20 and advance to the next round. On the last day we see Momo's 9th match against Ryuumonbuchi's Tomoki, and Kiyosumi's Hisa and Saki. It is revealed that even though Yumi was fine despite losing to Saki during the Team Tournament, Momoko saw how disappointed her senpai was after her match; Momoko was then determined to avenge Yumi's earlier lost against Miss "Tsumo After A Kan" (Saki). During the match Hisa set up a plan to conceal Saki's moves. Both Tomoki and Momoko immediaytely caught on and silently collaborated with Hisa resulting in great success at preventing Saki from implementing her usual strategy until Momo got greedy and then used her stealth mode to start stealing points from the other players, beginning with Tomoki, but ended up losing to Saki when Saki used a method that she learned at the training camp to win. It was latter shown that Momo did not advance to the nationals.

Combined Training Camp Arc

Going to the training camp we see Momo in the back of Kanbara's volkswagen pouncing by Yumi. At the training camp we first see Yumi taking a stroll around the place with Momo joining. They talk about how the traing camp may look cruel to her and Kanbara but states that it is very usefull to them and wanted to spend more time with her. During the conversation Kanbara shows up and tells Momo not to worry and have fun before heading to the baths.

When Hisa shows up to fetch Yumi to a match, Momo was shocked that they called each other by their first names and that they got along last night ( Momo might have misunderstood). Also when it was time to leave Momo was again jealous that Hisa chose to speak with Yumi.

National Tournament Arc

Tsuruga and Momo are shown before going to Tokyo to support Kiyosumi, sitting around listening to the broadcast of the tournament and its set up. When Tsuruga get to Tokyo, Momo is then present along with the others to greet Kiyosumi before their first match.
