Reika Shimizudani (清水谷 麗華 Shimizudani Reika) is the daughter of Ryuuka's grandmother and the mother of Ryuuka Shimizudani.
Appearance[]
Reika's appearance is very similar to Ryuuka Shimizudani's appearance. She has a dark purple tint to her hair.
Personality[]
Reika seems to be a free spirit and sometimes forgets things. For that reason, she speculates that Ryuuka Shimizudani doesn't trust her as a parent.
Plot[]
Practice Game Arc[]
Reika appears out of nowhere for the open class day where she begins talking with Mrs. Onjouji about their daughters and even says she looks a lot like Toki Onjouji. She then starts talking about how Ryuuka Shimizudani doesn't ask anything of her or trust her as a parent but lately is being more kid like thanks to Toki. She then exchanges numbers with Mrs. Onjouji.
She arrives late to the house and Ryuuka tells her that everyone made curry and she can eat it. However, she mentions that she is full thanks to Mrs. Onjouji inviting her to lunch but will eat the curry later.
Confrontation Arc[]
In the past, Reika is taking Ryuuka to school and notices a dad with his son. Ryuuka suddenly gives her mother a flower she made in class and makes her mother happy.
Reika was supposed to take Ryuuka to the zoo but is called into work. She promises to bring fancy chocolate macarons as a make up gift. Instead she brings home a guinea pig. She wants to name it boneless ham because of the way it looks but Ryuuka calls it Hamumu. When Hamumu finds a necklace in a closet, Ryuuka brings it to her mother. She says it was hers from college and places it around Ryuuka's neck. She opens it up and explains you can put important things inside. Ryuuka asks if she did that but Reika plays it off as if she forgot. She then says that Ryuuka is the most important thing to her.
On one particular cold and snowy day, she accidentally left the window in Ryuuka's room open while cleaning. This causes Hamumu to get sick and die.
Her mother can be heard arguing with Reika about her forgetting things. Reika takes Ryuuka out one day for lunch and says she has a present for her. She takes her to a condo she bought. She then tells Ryuuka to come here or the old place it doesn't matter and that they should turn over a new leaf together. However, she leaves soon after.
One week later, Reika's mother can be heard arguing with Reika again about spending time with Ryuuka and always running away from thing inconvenient for her. She then storms out the door.
Finding Fujishiro Arc[]
She makes a small appearance eating barbecue with Mrs. Onjouji.
Playing Style/Abilities[]
According to Ryuuka and her grandmother, Reika can make some ridiculous hands. Her basic skills are bad and doesn't pay attention to discards, but she can build hands well and doesn't deal into others much.
Etymology[]
- The name Reika means "beautiful, lovely" (麗) (rei) and "flower" (華) (ka).
- Reika's surname Shimizudani means "clear, pure, clean" (清) (shi), "water" (水) (mizu) and "valley" (谷) (tani/dani).
