Saki Wiki

Other tournaments[]

In the Saki manga volume 8, hand 62, Hisa asks Fujita-pro whether she is interested in the four schools training camp for Nagano's sake at the upcoming national championships or for Japan's sake at the world junior championships. This has led to speculation that the national individuals won't be the final chapter of Saki. It seems that Hisa, a high school senior, is age eligible for it.

In volume 7, hand 57, Fujita-pro and Takako Kubo also talk about a seemingly regional selection for something. It could've been about the world junior championships if the selection pool is huge. Kubo-pro also mentions Mihoko likely joining her pro league.

In the Achiga-hen manga, chapter 8, there is mention of a fall preliminary tournament where Toki made her playing debut as senpou. Apparently, high school seniors like Yumi will graduate before they can play in it. There is also mention of a spring tournament in that same chapter. The setup could be like that of Japanese high school baseball, where there are two national tournaments, a spring and a summer tournament. Oddly, the spring tournament has preliminaries in the fall. That oddness may have led to a mistake somewhere along the way in Saki episode 3, where it mentions Teru being the "taisho" and doing well in the spring "qualifiers". That should probably be the spring tournament. In the West Tokyo prefectural tournament, which did not yet happen, Teru played the senpou position.

Pages for these other tournaments will be added if and when more details become available. ChrisH8 04:32, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

Re-working[]

I'll rebuild the Mahjong page eventually. The mahjong section needs an introductory page for those completely unaware of mahjong and that functions as a category page, directing readers to the subparts. Also keep in mind that even in the Sakiverse, non-Japanese riichi majong may be played. And even if only Japanese riichi mahjong is played, it's significantly different in Saki due to the girls' supernatural powers and the more ideal settings. ChrisH8 02:08, May 16, 2012 (UTC)
